Rollerdrome could launch into PS Plus

Roll7's upcoming game Rollerdrome has a release date of August 16th for PS5 and PS4, but it looks like it might also be a day one PS Plus game after a suspicious-looking PlayStation Store listing was spotted online.

Rollerdrome was announced at State of Play last week, and it looks terrific. Following in the paw steps of sci-fi cat-former Stray, ResetEra user Modiz spotted a PlayStation web store listing for Rollerdrome that looks very suspicious (via PlayStation Lifestyle).

Stray and Rollerdrome set for day one releases Sony's new Plus Plus service

Obviously, this is all to be taken with the customary pinch of salt. Rollerdrome's listing gives the announced release date of August 16th, 2022, but it also gives an unusual specific release time. Modiz noticed that the time the download unlocks is at 12 pm EST and thus is offset from the generic release date time of 00:00 am for most titles. The other game that does this is Stray, which is launching onto PlayStation Plus' Extra and Premium tiers next month at the offset time of 11 am EST.

Additional evidence from Reddit user AngieK22 is that neither game is eligible for preorder. As a happy coincidence, both are launching on the third Tuesday of their respective months, the perfect time for the mid-month refreshes that PlayStation promised for its game catalogue.

Sony isn't going to be releasing its PlayStation Studios games onto Plus day one anytime soon, so having promising indies would be a great way to supplement that. What do you think of the potential addition of Rollerdrome day one? Let us know in the comments!
