PlayStation Gameplay Chart: Blood sucked from chart by a Vampire

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

Our latest PlayStation Gameplay Chart sees Elden Ring hold its throne atop a static top five, above Fortnite, FIFA, GTA, and CoD, while newcomer Bloodhunt manages to take a bite out of the top 20 a little way below.

It is all about the world of darkness, bats, and garlic this week thanks to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt, which has debuted in fine form. Here is the top 40 PlayStation Gameplay Chart for the week ending May 2nd, 2022.

So, the top ten is pretty lacklustre, huh? Everything has remained stationary barring the one expected swap between PlayStation Studio games. Gran Turismo 7 has got the engine purring with a move into the seventh spot, pipping Horizon Forbidden West to the post. The big cause of this is not again in players for Gran Turismo, but rather that Guerrilla Games' magnificent open-world RPG has seen an 11% player drop. Expectedly, both games share a stronger ratio of players on PS5 — Horizon at 4:1 and Gran Turismo at 3:1 — so Sony will certainly be proud to see consistency from week to week since launch. We think that you will see Horizon slip and slide until either a sale or the first piece of DLC. Meanwhile, with Gran Turismo's free DLC updates, we expect it to plateau somewhere from eighth to 15th.

The other exciting little parcel of blood and gore is the debut of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt. We have a message from the team about the trophies if you are interested — and certainly, a lot of people seem interested. It has picked up a frantic 14th position in the chart, guzzling on Lego Star Wars' little plastic neck in 15th. From Destiny 2 in 11th until Genshin Impact in 16th, there is only a 10% margin in player counts. Thus, we would suggest that it could find a nice spot in the top ten next week if word of (fanged) mouth carries it onto more SSDs, but it is in stiff competition with big names.

The other barometers of interest on the chart are Battlefield 2042 just doing miserably in 40th after a good resurgence to 31st last week. It's just from bad to worse here, and even a game-changing update can rescue player numbers. The fact that it is in 69th and being out-gunned by Battlefield V on the Xbox Gameplay Chart should speak volumes. With Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Astro's Playroom sitting just above Battlefield in 37th and 38th, it also signals that PS5s are back in stock somewhere in the world.

Anything sticking out to you in the chart this week? Any questions about missing games? Let us know in the comments and we will get back to you!
