The new PlayStation Plus tiers will be arriving across the globe in May and June, Sony has confirmed. The release will be staggered across Asia, Japan, the Americas, and Europe.

Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO (and known as Sir Business around here), has confirmed the release date for the new PlayStation Plus service on the PlayStation Blog. The release is being staggered across the world in the following order:

  1. Asian markets (excluding Japan) — targeting May 23rd, 2022
  2. Japan — targeting June 1st, 2022
  3. Americas — targeting June 13th, 2022
  4. Europe — targeting June 22nd, 2022
Note the use of 'targeting' here implies that these dates could change at any time. Sony is also beginning to roll out cloud streaming in countries that haven't yet got access — this is a major feature of the Extra and Premium tiers, particularly regarding the PS3 backwards compatibility. These countries should now be getting access to the Premium tier at launch as well: "Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia."

Though we don't know any of the games that will be coming to the service yet, we do think it is highly likely that a few PS1, PS2, and PSP favourites will be there. The new service will combine Plus and Now across three tiers — Essential, Extra, and Premium. For full details, see the table below:
