PlayStation VR2 "delay to 2023" rumoured by consultants

PlayStation VR2 hasn't got a release date yet, but a recent report has suggested that the Sony headset is being pushed from 2022 into 2023.

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants — industry analysts — states that the new PlayStation VR device has been pushed out of the unconfirmed initial release of late 2022 and into 2023 as suggested by the line “despite delays to 2023 at Apple and Sony.” In spite of the delay to the two manufacturers, VR display shipments are set to rise by 50% in 2022 to a massive 15 million next year thanks to the new technology on the block.

Interestingly, VGC refers to the article itself from Digital Supply Chain. In it, there is a fair amount of praise for the screens.

"AMOLED will be back, thanks to the launch of Sony’s PlayStation VR2," reads the article. "We expect these AMOLED panels to have a pixel density well above 800 PPI, which is a record high for mass-produced AMOLED. With high contrast displays and no visible screen door effect, the PSVR2 is likely to be a hit among gamers."

Wonderful! So, would you be gutted at a PS VR2 delay? Or are you fine with all the other exciting things happening this year? Let us know in the comments, and we will see you there!
