New Tomb Raider game being made using Unreal Engine 5

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Tomb Raider will have a new entry made in Unreal Engine 5. Developer Crystal Dynamics just announced the game and revealed it has just started development.

Today was the official launch of Unreal Engine 5 for every developer. To celebrate, a special State of Unreal stream occurred in which Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider series' general manager, Dallas Dickinson made the big Tomb Raider announcement. He says Crystal Dynamics' "goal is to push the envelope of fidelity and to deliver the cinematic action-adventure experience that fans deserve from both Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise."

Dallas revealed the unfortunate reality that the game has "just started development," while remaining vague as to whether this is a new entry into the modern Tomb Raider reboots. You can check out the games here on TT as we have the Tomb Raider - Definitive Edition trophies, Rise of the Tomb Raider trophies, and the Shadow of the Tomb Raider trophies all on-site and ready for you to peruse. It seems that this new game will be quite a while out, so you have plenty of time to get your platinums.

Crystal Dynamics follows in the footsteps of CD Projekt Red by using Unreal Engine 5. The Polish team is the developer behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 and recently announced a new Witcher game using Unreal Engine 5. Crystal Dynamics is also working on a Perfect Dark reboot with Xbox's troubled homegrown team, The Initiative.

Excited for whatever the Crystal Dynamics team has cooked up? Let us know in the comments, and get adventuring!
