PlayStation Gameplay Chart: Elden Ring unfazed by GTA 5 rerelease

By Sean Carey,
Despite one of the most popular games of all time, Grand Theft Auto V, releasing again and putting up a valiant effort, Elden Ring still reigns supreme in this week's chart. Here is the top 40 PlayStation Gameplay Chart for the week ending March 20th, 2022.

That's right, Elden Ring is still the most-played PlayStation game on our chart for the third week running. FromSoftware's RPG is then followed by none other than Grand Theft Auto V, which of course saw another rerelease on PS5 last week. With its combined PS4 and PS5 player counts, GTA 5 has jumped up from sixth into the second position. In the top ten, we also see a decline in players for both Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, with Horizon dropping to fourth and GT7 to 6th. Gran Turismo 7 suffered a major outage last week, with the game going offline for more than 24 hours, so that's probably why we see the slip in players there.

Moving further down the table, we see that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has slipped from 18th down to 26th and that this month's PlayStation Plus title, Ghostrunner, which made its debut into the chart last week in 32nd place, has done a disappearing act and dropped out of the chart entirely. However, there is a bit of interesting activity right at the bottom of the chart with Warframe and Brawlhalla making reentries, and Bleach: Brave Souls, a new hack-and-slash game based on Tite Kubo's manga and anime series making its first appearance in 37th position.

In terms of big release this week, we have the Borderlands spin-off, Tiny Tina's Wonderland on March 22nd and Tango Gameworks' action-adventure game GhostWire: Tokyo, which we expect will do quite well in next week's chart from looking at the latest GhostWire: Tokyo reviews.

What do you make of this week's PlayStation Gameplay Chart? Did you expect GTA 5 to knock Elden Ring down a peg? Let us know your thoughts down in those comments!
