Epic Games donating Fortnite proceeds to humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine [updated]

By Sean Carey,
Update: Epic Games has announced that after just one day, it has raised an impressive $36 million for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Original Story: Epic Games has announced it will donate all Fortnite proceeds for the next two weeks to humanitarian relief organisations, helping those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Epic Games will donate all Fortnite proceeds made from March 20th to April 3rd to four humanitarian relief organisations: Direct Relief, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP), and UNHCR – The UN Refugee Agency. All funds raised from the sales of "V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs," alongside retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards that are redeemed in-game during the two week period will be donated. Chapter 3, Season 2 has just begun in Fortnite with a new battle pass, so it's likely that a sizeable chunk of money will be going to the aid organisations.

Epic Games, and many other games companies have all suspended new sales in Russia and Belarus in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Sony also recently halted sales in Russia and made a $2 million donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
