Journey's soundtrack "reimagined" in new release

One of the best PS3 games, Journey, also had one of the greatest soundtracks. Austin Wintory has now recomposed the score and added new voices into the mix for Traveler: A Journey Symphony.

The original soundtrack for ThatGameCompany's legendary title was charged to Austin Wintory. The game won a Grammy for it — the only video game soundtrack to have ever done so — therefore, we don’t feel so outrageous saying it is one of the best of all time. Now we are getting another version of the album that will be “reimagined", with the London Symphonic Orchestra playing a slightly tweaked rendition of the score, led by the wonderful work of Tina Guo on cello. Numerous vocalists are involved, centred by the London Voice Choir.

“Here to celebrate the 10th Anniversary and as my endless statement of gratitude to you all for all you’ve done — here is the entire original score re-orchestrated and reimagined,” says Wintory in the announcement video. “[It features] Tina Guo with the London Symphonic Orchestra and the London Voice Choir. A reoccurring sentiment I’ve heard over the years is people wishing they could play Journey for the first time again and experience it truly fresh. So, my hope is that with this album, with its combination of old and new, gives a little bit of a taste of what that might feel like.”
