New Bungie project confirmed as third-person action game

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Bungie is hiring for a new game and the listings have confirmed several important details about the new project. It appears that the new Sony studio is making a third-person action game.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep (2019) — Bungie

Picked up by The Game Post, the listings were found on Greenhouse. The most major of the positions is the senior role of creative director and the listing specifically states that it will be "a new 3rd-person action game." Interestingly, the post indicates that the framework of the game is in place, but Bungie is still working out how to present the new game. "Work with the Game Director and Project Leadership Team to define a compelling pitch for a new action game," describes the listing.

This is probably the "character-focused third-person action game" that we have seen in other listings, but which remained extraneous detail to Destiny work for some time. This new information confirms that the project is in full swing. The level designer position mentions it will be multiplayer and will use the "player sandboxes and environments" that the developer is famous for being world-class at making in the Halo series.

The studio was bought by Sony this year for $3.6 billion and is focused on helping PlayStation Studios make good live-service titles. It will also be making its own games, clearly, while supporting its immensely successful Destiny 2.

What do you think of this news? Are you excited about a character-based third-person action game from Bungie? I know our attention is piqued. Let us know if yours is in the comments below.
