Rumoured Sly Cooper game apparently in development at PlayStation Studio [updated]

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Update 2:
The suggestion that PlayStation Studio PixelOpus is developing the rumoured Sly Cooper game has been backed by XboxEra host Shpeshal_Nick. This is still a rumour, so do not treat it as fact — though many items are conveniently lining up.

Updated:
AccountNGT, the source of this rumour, has provided an update about a Sly Cooper game that is set for a reveal in late 2022.

Please, since this is just a rumour, take this with a huge pinch of salt. Apparently, the game is not being made by the developer of the original trilogy, Sucker Punch. This is not entirely surprising if true — the PlayStation Studio appears to be busy making a second Ghost of Tsushima game. However, nor has it seemed likely that Sanzaru Games — the developer of the fourth game — would take the reigns, since it is now owned by Meta.

Instead, speculation is arising that this could be a task for Sony-owned PixelOpus. The team is working on a project with Sony Pictures animation, so could that be the long-rumoured Sly Cooper TV show? Who knows, but it seems more likely than Sanzaru Games.

Original Story:
The Sly Cooper rumour has been expanded upon with some information suggesting that an announcement is set for late 2022 in order to celebrate Sly Cooper's 20th anniversary.

Apparently, Sony is set to reveal a new Sly Cooper game in late 2022 to celebrate the cheeky raccoon's 10th anniversary. Last week, the account reported that Sly Cooper and Infamous games were in development, though it was unspecified if they were remastered or new games entirely. AccountNGT has been mostly reliable, especially with all things Star Wars Eclipse though please keep your salt handy.

Sly Cooper was a PS2 trilogy by Sucker Punch, who is now a PlayStation Studio. Sanzaru Games — now owned by Meta — developed the re-released trilogy for PS3, before porting them to Vita. This helpfully gave us Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2 trophies, and Sly 3. The team went on to develop the fourth game for Vita and PS3. The Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time trophies were nice and easy.

There is still a TV Show in development that the rumoured game might try and coincide with. What do you think of the rumour? Let us know in the comments below!
