PlayStation Plus and Now subscriptions merging ahead of rumoured Spartacus — report

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
PlayStation users have been reporting that their Plus and Now subscriptions were merging when renewing, building further anticipation for Sony's rumoured Game Pass equivalent, Spartacus.

PlayStation News

Two sets of reports found by GamingBolt have claimed that PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions have been merging. The first is a report on the threads of NeoGaf. The user states that they bought a new Plus subscription for $60. Upon opening their subscription management tab, they apparently had also had a PS Now subscription ending on the same date as their Plus one, despite having never purchased it. There were no additional charges, only the two subscriptions bundled together. Other users reported the same experience when making a new subscription as found by IGNItalia.

This only appears to occur with new subscriptions, as we have double-checked our account and only have the PlayStation Plus subscription. IGNItalia managed to replicate the results by buying a new one — feel free to gift us the £60 needed to test further by purchasing us a new subscription ourselves (don't, I'm joking... unless). As the website notes, it is unclear if this is a visual glitch, something has gone awry behind the scenes, or is part of an unannounced deal.

The vital part to all of this is that it could be an indicator that Project Spartacus is on the way. Sony's Game Pass rival would apparently merge Now and Plus together, just as is happening here. Recently, a report came through about the alleged tiers, pricing, and content that would be included. Apparently, the service will be announced in a March State of Play and gamers are desperate to know if they will be able to finally download PS3 games.
