Jurassic World Evolution 2 to get paid DLC and free update

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Camp Cretaceous dinosaur pack arrives next month on March 8th for Jurassic World Evolution 2 as paid DLC, while Update 2 arrives for free on the same day.

The Camp Cretaceous DLC will cost £7.99/$9.99/€9.99 and adds the Scorpios rex and the Monolophosaurus, as well as two variants for the Ouranosaurus and Kentrosaurus, and new Camp Cretaceous dinosaur skins such a the Bumpy Ankylosaurus skin, the the Toro Carnotaurus, and the fluorescent Parasaurolophus Lux skin.

Frontier also outlined what's included with free Update 2, which also arrives on March 8th. The Sandbox Mode changes mean that all dinosaurs, skins, patterns, buildings, and upgrades will be available when you start a new Sandbox level, along with "the option to play with Research and Expeditions mechanics... This means that you can start completely from scratch and work your way up in any and all Sandbox maps." You'll also be able to toggle Expeditions and Research on or off as you go without needing to start a new park. Update 2 will also let you turn off the need for Scientists in Sandbox Mode.

Over 40 new "placeables" will be added, made up of Facility Pieces and Decoration pieces. "Facility Pieces are made mainly to work with the DFW building sets, but are also perfect for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World era parks! Decoration Pieces will help your parks pop with new signs, planters and fountains. You'll also be able to add the Velociraptor Paddock and a Spinosaurus skeleton to your parks." With Update 2, you'll be able to add individual trees, and make use of the First Person View option, which lets you explore on ground level, as well as interacting with buildings and vehicles.

Update 2 also brings with it a new Species Viewer with a name pronunciation guide, and other quality-of-life improvements, as well an update to the behaviour of certain dinos: prey dinosaurs might flee at a group attack, and might even be able to outrun the hunter, while defending dinos might try to charge. The Camp Cretaceous DLC will be priced at £7.99/$9.99/€9.99, and arrives alongside free Update 2 on March 8th.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
