Horizon Forbidden West's blinding HDR issues are being fixed

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Sadly, some players haven't yet even been able to start gathering those Horizon Forbidden West trophies because of HDR and visual hiccups. However, Guerrilla Games is on the case with a patch.

A Reddit post from Guerrilla Games' community manager Chanté Goodman has been spotted on the official Horizon subreddit that acknowledges some of the visual issues that have been occurring. "Thank you for sharing your various visual issues with us via our Support Form," opens the statement. "The team are working vigilantly to resolve these issues with high priority and are aiming to get an update out as soon as possible.

"Please continue to use the Support Form and share videos (recordings of your TV/monitor are useful) and provide us with as much information as possible. We understand your frustrations and appreciate your patience. We are doing our best to quickly get you back out into the wilds," the statement concludes. The Guerrilla support page is open for business.

Visual hitches have been a continued issue so far. The major one seems to be a saturation and brightness problem with HDR, where the light values are ludicrously exaggerated and have to be lowered substantially. There are reports of issues with the performance mode in particular, where some darkness values appear to be off entirely for some players (it seems to be really affecting those with OLED TVs). Other items of note are audio issues and climbing handhold gating where Aloy won't jump to what the player intends to.

Kes had even noted in his Horizon Forbidden West review that he was suffering from occasional visual hiccups but still regarded the game as one of immense quality. What do you think of the ongoing issues? Have you been playing? Let us know in the comments, you visual stunners.
