Cyberpunk 2077's PS5 trophies won't auto-unlock from PS4 save

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Yesterday marked the surprise drop of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 after its horrific year on PS4. Though you can transfer your save from last-gen, one vital thing won't be coming with you: trophies.

Cyberpunk 2077

As per usual with recent upgrades, your PS4 save can be transferred to PS5 if your save doesn't get corrupted along the way. In recent PlayStation Studios titles, like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves and Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, the trophy lists could be automatically unlocked if you ported your progress of the PS4 version of the game to PS5.

However, no such luck for trophy hunters on PS5 who have played Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 (thanks, PushSquare for the heads up). Once your save is imported, there will be no satisfying auto pings of trophies popping, only dead silence and the realisation that you will have to play the game again from scratch for that platinum. The rough estimate is that it will take between 50 and 80 hours. In fairness, for most hunters, this is actually a good thing. It means you actually get to earn a second platinum rather than essentially buy it for the upgrade cost that Sony has been charging for its PS5 upgrades.

It is worth noting that this might indicate the way that CD Project Red will handle the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt later this year. So, if our guess is right, buckle up your horse, get your potions ready, and your oils slippery because that is a completion of around 150 hours. Are you a fan of this method? Or would you rather and easy platinum? Let us know in the comments, punks.
