What would Bloodborne look like on PS1?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Bloodborne is a PS4 classic at this point. Developed by FromSoftware, the gothic setting of this RPG has plenty of fans — with one so hardcore that they built a retro remake of the game complete with box art and music.

Lilith Walther is the genius behind the retro remake of Bloodborne, currently available to download for free from here (though you can donate if you so wish). In essence, the developer has taken the game down a notch or two with all the technical wizardry and made something that genuinely looks like it came out when I was a toddler. The chunky 20fps, the bitty graphics and sound design, and the fabulously jank animations prove that Bloodborne would have been great in any era, but is just as perfect for the PS1 as the PS4. The bosses even look suitably gnarly in this new form.

With trailer music from The Nobel Demon and box art by Corwyn Prichard, the whole thing comes together. Let us know what you think in the comments of course, and give us a holler if you have given it a go yourself!
