Elden Ring will take around 30 hours to beat

By Sean Carey,
FromSoftware has announced that its upcoming action-RPG Elden Ring has now officially gone gold. Producer Yasuhiro Kitao also revealed it will take around 30 hours to beat the game.

During Taipei Game Show 2022 (thanks, Gematsu), a new presentation video on Elden Ring was shown. Yasuhiro Kitao confirmed that the 'master' of the game had been submitted for approval, and FromSoftware was now working on Elden Ring's day one patch.

Kitao also revealed a few more details on the game during the presentation (the video embedded above is definitely worth a watch!). According to the producer, it will take around 30 hours to beat the "main route," though this "will differ significantly by player."

Kitao continued: "The game as a whole is quite massive and contains many dozens more hours' worth of gameplay, but if we are talking about the main route only, it shouldn't take much longer than that." While we don't have an official trophy list just yet, we imagine unlocking Elden Ring's platinum trophy will take a bit longer than 30 hours, judging by previous FromSoftware games.

In terms of replayability, the producer said that character data will carry across (much like how it does in previous FromSoftware games), so you can play through the game against powered-up enemies. Kitao says the game has also been designed so it can be finished without necessarily seeing everything the game has to offer. "With the world being so vast, the game is designed so that it can be cleared without necessarily experiencing everything," Kitao said. "Some players will prefer to try and explore the entire map the first time while others will leave some areas for exploration in second or subsequent cycles."

Elden Ring launches for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on February 25th.
