Twisted Metal PS5 reboot gets Motorstorm director By Kes Eylers-Stephenson, 13 Jan 2022 FollowtopicsRumourIndustry NewsKes Eylers-Stephenson The Twisted Metal reboot that everyone knows is secretly in the works has a new director, all but confirming the existence of the project and the news that PlayStation Studios Firesprite has taken over the project. Spotted by ResetEra (thanks, PushSquare), former Motorstorm director Matt Southern has made a important career change. He has moved from Destruction: All-Stars developer and original Twisted Metal reboot caretakers Lucid Games to Firesprite Games. Both studios are situated in Liverpool, but more than that, Southern appears to have been a key figure in the PS5 Twisted Metal reboot rumours given his prior experience in the destructive modern arcade racers in the Motorstorm series developed by now-defunct PlayStation Studio Evolution. Is it a coincidence that he is now at Firesprite, possibly working on yet another destructive car combat game? We think not, especially with that 2023 TV show on the way!
