Marvel's Avengers PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man DLC won't feature story missions

The PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man DLC for Marvel's Avengers won't include any narrative story missions, Crystal Dynamics has confirmed.

Speaking with IGN, gameplay director Philippe Therien explained why Crystal Dynamics decided not to include any new story missions for everyone's favourite web-slinger. "We want to spend our efforts on content that everyone can enjoy, so we chose to spend a lot of our energy on the Klaw raid that's coming up at the same time," Therien said. "Really that's a simple decision for us. Spider-Man can play all the content, but then we release a piece of content that's good on all platforms. Really that was a decision that's been that way since the beginning."

Previous heroes such as Clint Barton and Kate Bishop had their own dedicated in-engine cutscenes and story missions known as Operations that you could play through to better understand the characters. Spider-Man won't be getting that. Instead, The With Great Power add-on is branded as a Hero Event, with narrative content coming via audio logs and illustrated cutscenes.

The With Great Power Spider-Man DLC drops on November 30th.
