Deathloop's second big update improves NPC reaction behaviour

By Heidi Nicholas,
Deathloop's second major update brings controller remapping and other quality-of-life improvements, but it also improves the reactions and behaviour of the NPCs of Blackreef Island.

Deathloop PS5 exclusive

Bethesda explains that NPCs will now "react to bullets passing close by, such as headshots that miss." They'll also react if another NPC is assassinated near them, and will react faster when hearing footsteps. NPCs will also be able to tell which direction a grenade was thrown from, and the update brings "numerous other small fixes and improvements to NPC behaviour, reactions, pathing, and placement."

Quality-of-life and accessibility improvements include larger UI buttons and text, controller remapping, and, for the PS5, FOV and motion blur options. The NPC improvements seem to be the biggest part of this update, but you can check out the full patch notes over on the Deathloop site to see what other improvements there are for UI, graphics, audio, and stability.

Will you be hopping back into Deathloop to see the improvements to NPCs? Let us know in the comments!

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
