Outriders' New Horizon update will be "transformational" for the game, according to Square Enix, and adds new expeditions, a transmogrification feature, and more.

Over on the Square Enix site, the devs break down what's included with the New Horizon update, which goes live today, November 16th. The four new expeditions are Molten Depths, City of Nomads, The Marshal's Complex, and The Wellspring. Molten Depths "sends you to a previously undiscovered power station in Eagle Peaks" to face some "unwanted tenants," while City of Nomads brings you into contact with someone with a "dark history." In The Marshal's Complex, "Grand Marshal Corrigan asks you to reclaim a facility near Deadrock Pass from insurgents," and lastly, The Wellspring has you searching for treasures lost in deep wells.

Square Enix also runs through how it has made Legendary gear "more fun to find," while the transmogrification system lets you change the appearance of gear — "No longer will you be forced to wear armour you don’t like aesthetically, just because it complements your build. You can create a consistent style, or turn your Outrider into a fashion disaster, all without affecting your stats." The New Horizon update also buffs the skills and gear of the four classes, improves the multiplayer experience with crossplay and improved matchmaking rules, gives PlayStation players more control options, and allows you to skip the opening sequence. Lastly, the devs add that playing the game before November 30th will earn you a Legendary armour piece. That was a lot of info, and there's just one bit more: Outriders will get the new Worldslayer expansion in 2022. Phew!

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
