The Great TrueTrophies Score Challenge III is coming soon

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
What's up? I'm here to let you all know that we're nearing the 3rd run of the Great TrueTrophies Score Challenge.

GTTSC III starts on November 8th, 2021 and will run for 15 weeks.

GTTSC III: How it works

This year, we are rocking two separate, but concurrent, contests. There is the Individual Contest for the lone wolves and the Team Contest for the together wolves. You are free to enter both if you like being a versatile wolf.

The pair of contests will be running for 15 periods of one week. With the end of each period comes elimination from the contest. The lowest-scoring teams in each contest are booted out and the leaderboards get reset for the next period.

At the beginning of each period, you will be given the number of bottom teams that will be eliminated. Your team must stay out of the elimination zone in order to survive until the next period.

How do you score points?

We are scoring this year based on the TrueTrophy Difference (aka TT Difference). This is the difference between the TrueTrophy score and PlayStation's attributed Trophy Value.

Don't worry if maths isn't your vibe — we will work this all out for you — but for those interested here is how it works. This achievement in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has a PlayStation Trophy XP Value of 15, and a TT Value of 46:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black FlagCommitted To The CauseThe Committed To The Cause trophy in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag worth 43 pointsReach level 55 in Multiplayer.

So, this little trophy now has a TT Difference of 31.

During the event, every gamer will have their PlayStation Attributed Trophy XP and TrueTrophies score logged at the start of a given period. The difference between the two will be calculated to give you the TT Difference. As the Trophy XP and TT score change throughout each week of the contest, the TT Difference is constantly being recalculated on the contest leaderboards. The change in the TT Difference between the moment of the period starting and at the end of the period is their score for that period. Please, trust us, this is way simpler than that block of text makes it seem!

Another wrinkle to consider is that TT scores are a fluid number. With every trophy earned, the score can change as a game becomes more or less popular. Therefore, these adaptive scoring changes will be factored into your GTTSC Scores. Now, what does that actually mean? Well, you could earn score points without even touching a trophy. Likewise, you could end up with a minus score for unlocking a very popular trinket. Remember, we aren't actually tracking the trophies earned here, but rather just your TT Difference between the start and the end of the week to determine your score earnings.

Here's a quick overview of this year's event:
  • Starts November 8th
  • Scoring is based on TT Difference
  • The contest is 15 weeks long (if you make it all the way to the end)
  • The team contest is for teams of three
  • Both contests are open to PlayStation accounts with 5,000 XP or more
  • PlayStation account must have full tracking to enter
Get chatting to your friends about teams and then register, for the GTTSCIII is about to begin!
