Beat Saber is going multiplayer so you can musically mash your mates

PlayStation VR smash hit, Beat Saber, is getting a free multiplayer update so you can mince up to five friends in a musical duel. Naturally, this means you get to create an intimidating avatar to impose your beating prowess.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, Beat Saber multiplayer will be launching in a free update that is available right now. You will be able to play against up to five friends or random foes in private or public matches. A really cool feature is that your customisable avatar can sit up in the stands while duels between other players unfold.

There is "a lobby and arena-like environment which transports you and your challengers into a monumental world of competition. Are you ready for the contest? If not, you can just sit back and watch the competition heat up as an inactive player watching the stadium from above," says developer Beat Games.

There will also be a new song to play — Spooky Beat — as well as new podium celebrations and saber colours. Is this update coming just in time for a free inclusion with PlayStation Plus in November? Let us know if you will be hopping in for this event in the comments below.
