No Man's Sky gets Expedition Four: Emergence update with rideable sandworms

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
No Man's Sky is getting its Expedition Four: Emergence today. Over the course of Halloween, there will be a new expedition, rideable sandworms, better particle effects, and plenty more to occupy spacefarers.

The developers wrote a blog that clarifies that this is the first Expedition with a narrative. "In Expedition Four: Emergence, travellers will find themselves stranded on planet Wasan, a barren world ravaged by dust storms and infested with Titan Worms. It is up to you to locate the Titan Worm impact sites, destroy the wretched Hungering Tendrils, and collect the Vile Spawn that lingers behind." As you progress, you will unravel a "dark narrative" about a cult, which will earn you rewards.

The biggest news of all is obviously the sandworm situation. More variety with the all "new biologies and types" and "more horrifying variants" will create an array of funky beasts. Even funnier is the news that you can now tame and ride the beasts. "These are both terrifying and awesome creatures when fully grown, and incredible to fly."

Expedition Four: Emergence is out right now. Are you still a No Man's Sky player? Let us know in the comments!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
