Hidden Gems PlayStation Store Sale: the TT community picks

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
The TT community has picked out three games from the Hidden Gems PlayStation Store sale that provide a great time for great savings. With plenty of gems to find in this offering, let's see what was chosen!

TNelson185 — Furi

Not for those looking for a relaxing game, even on the normal difficulty it's pretty hard. Effectively a boss rush mode with short walking sim sections adding story depth and giving a pause in how fast-paced the gameplay is.
This is a favourite of Editor Luke's as well, who believes that Furi's soundtrack is one of the best around. The Game Baker made a shoot 'em up that has certainly become beloved by many. Bright colours make a classy combat system even more exciting than the perfectly balanced mix of shooting, dashing, and slashing. Big bosses and a solid story help round out an excellent game.

PLATINBLAZE — Swordbreaker: The Game

Just browsed through the 452 items and only have a few favourites from the current sale. Like Mahluk and Swordbreaker.
Of PLATINBLAZE's two picks, we have plumped for little known Swordbreaker: The Game. This 2015 release is on PS4 and Vita, and is a choose your own adventure. Set in a medieval world with a lone warrior heading out, some weird stuff starts happening. Then it is down to you to pick your path through the game. It isn't long at all, with a roughly sub-four hour platinum. Definitely worth a little look!

DrNefario — SteamWorld Heist

DrNefario has done all of our work for us, here! This is what the good doctor had to say: "SteamWorld Heist is my pick. I love it. It's a side-on turn-based tactical game where bouncing or curving carefully aimed shots is key. It's one of a very small number of games where I've gone right back in on a higher difficulty after I've finished. And It's cross-buy with a separate Vita trophy list. The two Dig games are pretty good, too, with the same cross-buy stack, but Heist is more my style. They do all go on sale quite regularly, though, so maybe there's no great rush. Also worthy of note are The Talos Principle and The Turing Test, two very enjoyable first-person puzzlers in the vein of Portal." Thanks, DrNefario!

Honourable mention

DrEvilGuapo If, for some reason, you've put off playing What Remains of Edith Finch like I had, you are doing yourself a great disservice. It's a short game, but one that will stick with you.
That's our lot for the week! Let us know if you have dipped into the store for some goodies down below, and hopefully see you around in the future!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
