Andy Serkis congratulates players on getting platinum trophy in strange Venom trailer

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
On the PlayStation Europe YouTube page, a very strange video has been found. In it, the Sony Pictures-produced Venom: There Will be Carnage director, Andy Serkis, congratulates players for getting a platinum trophy. Which one? We don't know.

Listen. This is obviously not really a news story but nothing is happening today, so let's just have some fun. Resetera found this... but what is this? Andy Serkis, the professional gorilla and cave dweller, congratulates us on getting a platinum. We don't know for what game, or why Mr Serkis has suddenly taken an interest in our gaming habits, but there he is.

Now, I don't mean to slate him for this appearance — it is welcome, of course — but without context, I don't know how to feel. If this was given to me after a plat of The Witcher 3, after 120 hours of monster-slaying and putting up with Dandelion's jibes... well, frankly, Sir Serkis, your tone is not indicative of the effort I have put in. However, his majesty's tone would be much too congratulatory for My Name is Mayo.

Of course, it would be just about right for an actual Spider-Man game. Indeed, we would suspect that this is the case. It might be that players getting the Miles Morales or Spider-Man platinum will get the link in an email, just like the extra downloads players received for getting the Horizon Zero Dawn platinum.

I guess I'm just going to pass this off to you. What do you think? What would be the best game to receive these congratulations from the god-like Serkis? Let us know in the comments!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
