Ubisoft has announced that the popular Driver series will be returning as a live-action TV show, and launching as a exclusive.

This live-action adaption focuses on John Tanner, an ex-professional racer who left the competitive scene to become an undercover agent and embarks on a mission to take down a crime syndicate. The show will launch on exclusively sometime next year, 2022.

"As long-time fans of the franchise, we’re excited to deliver an original, premium, and rich storytelling experience that will take fans and newcomers on a thrilling ride,” said Binge’s Allan Ungar.

The show will see Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik, and Genevieve Jones acting as executive producers, alongside Binge’s producers Allan Ungar and Vincent Talenti.

“Our mission at Ubisoft is to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming,” says Ubisoft Film & Television’s head of television development, Danielle Kreinik. “Working with Binge will allow us to bring a Driver series directly to the audience who is most passionate about seeing this franchise come to life.”

The series' last mainline entry was Driver: San Francisco in 2011, so we're hoping that this will spur the development of a new entry. Will you be buckling up and checking out the Driver TV show when it releases next year? Let us know down below!
