Days Gone dev Bend Studio hiring for "great new concept," says PlayStation boss

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Day's Gone developer Bend Studio had a sequel cancelled, but now the team is back up and running for a new IP and fresh talent. The PlayStation Studio's boss even chipped in to celebrate!

After a Day's Gone sequel was cancelled, Sony Bend suffered the loss of lead writers John Garvin and Jeff Ross, before getting stuck on a Last of Us remaster the team didn't want to do. Now, it seems, the studio is back on track with a new IP, rumoured to be something multiplayer-focused. By staffing up in senior positions, it suggests that things are getting serious for the Oregon-based team, and it is heading into the bulk of development work.

The head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, got in on the action, remarking that this was a "great new concept." This is as expected, considering that Hulst has been trying to expand the repertoire of the PlayStation Studios during his reign. Apparently the game has been in production since 2019, and hopefully it won't take an age to develop!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
