Servers for four LittleBigPlanet games closed permanently, dozens of trophies discontinued

The LittleBigPlanet team announced today that servers for LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3), and LittleBigPlanet (Vita) have been closed, discontinuing dozens of trophies in the process.

In an update on Twitter, the LittleBigPlanet team apologised for the extended downtime of the LittleBigPlanet server, which was temporarily shut down after being attacked numerous times by hackers, who spread hateful messages through the game and reportedly took the server down using DDoS attacks. The server has now come back online for LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS4; however, to "protect the LittleBigPlanet community", the team has had to shut down online services for LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3), and LittleBigPlanet (Vita). No date was given for the shutdown, so we're assuming that the servers for these games simply won't be coming back online.

"We have no doubt that this news will come as a big disappointment to a lot of you, ultimately this is the best way to protect the LittleBigPlanet community and to help ensure that our online environment remains safe," the statement reads.

Servers for LittleBigPlanet 3 on PS4 will not be shut down, and "any community content previously published to our server via LBP1/LBP2/LBP3 on PlayStation 3 will still be available on LittleBigPlanet 3 on PlayStation 4," a further tweet from the team reads.

The news means that (we think) 18 trophies in LittleBigPlanet, 25 trophies in LittleBigPlanet 2, three trophies in LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3), and 20 trophies in LittleBigPlanet (Vita) have now been discontinued, which also means that Platinum trophies for all four games have been partly discontinued.
