PlayStation Gameplay Chart: Predator stalks the top ten, Hitman aims high, Tales arises By Kes Eylers-Stephenson, 13 Sep 2021Predator: Hunting Grounds has used every gadget it could to get into the top ten, while Hitman 2 and Tales of Arise have surprised. Here is the top 40 PlayStation Gameplay Chart for the week ending September 12th, 2021.PositionGamePublisherLast week1 Call of Duty: Modern WarfareActivision12 FortniteEpic Games23 Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarActivision44 Grand Theft Auto VRockstar Games35 FIFA 21Electronic Arts56 Apex LegendsElectronic Arts67 Predator: Hunting GroundsSony Interactive Entertainment-8 Rocket LeaguePsyonix99 Ghost of TsushimaSony Interactive Entertainment710 Genshin ImpactmiHoYo811 Destiny 2Activision1012 HITMAN 2Warner Bros. Chart information is copyright TrueGaming Network.Take a look at this top ten and spot the anomaly: Warzone (1), Fortnite (2), Cold War (3), Grand Theft Auto V (4), FIFA 21 (5), Apex Legends (6), Predator: Hunting Grounds (7), Rocket League (8), Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut (9), and Genshin Impact (10). Predator seems to be the perfect PlayStation Plus game: multiplayer, an FPS, with very few people willing to pay to play. So, Predator goes 'free' on PS Plus? Top ten! Impressive stuff. Likewise, Ghost of Tsushima has held ground well, but that plenty of other players are starting it up as of late. Interestingly, the ratio of PS5 to PS4 gamers is 50/50, suggesting most were waiting for the Iki Island expansion rather than the (overpriced) PS5 upgrades. Just outside of the top ten rests the other PlayStation Plus game, Hitman 2, which has managed to do two impressive things. The first is nearly beat out Destiny 2 to the 11th spot, with only a tiny difference in player count between the two. The second, is Hitman 2 has managed to raise Hitman 3 back into the chart at 37 as a by-product. Hitman 2 levels can be ported into Hitman 3, but can run at 60 fps thanks to the better optimisation. Indeed, Hitman 3 has double the PS5 gamers than on PS4, suggesting that as many players as possible are taking advantage of the upgraded hardware if they have it.Overcooked! All You Can Eat debuts at 17, which initially had me (Kes) confused at its low ranking, until Editor Luke pointed out that Overcooked has been on sale so many times that many of the people who would have picked it up have probably already done so. So, we will follow this in case of a substantial drop-off or word-of-mouth rise. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare — from last month's PS Plus collection — is still doing really well in spite of the fact that no one was that happy about the August lineup. Success in the face of adversity! That brings us to our number 22 this week, Tales of Arise. Even with a series as prestigious as Tales, for a niche JRPG out of Bandai Namco this is an impressive number. It speaks to the solid showings the game had before release, the amazing word of mouth from the Tales community, and the hard work put in by the dev team for this rejuvenated iteration. PlayStation exclusives have seen a huge rise. The three in question are: Spider-Man (+4), God of War (+15), and Gran Turismo Sport (+2). All of these games have had sequels appear at the PlayStation Showcase last week, so it seems that plenty of gamers immediately jumped back into these for a refresh. Well, that is your lot for this week. Come at us with your observations! We like to include salient and eagle-eyed comments from the TT community, so let us know what you have spotted!Chart Written by Kes Eylers-StephensonEditor Kes is our resident expert in PlayStation and other gaming news.
