Nixxes Software overview

Nixxes Software was acquired by Sony in 2021. The Dutch team specialise in PC porting and support work. The team worked very closely with Crystal Dynamics to help get the modern Tomb Raider trilogy — Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider — onto PC and would later help the team with getting Marvel’s Avengers ported. Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on PC is also labelled as Nixxes' work. Apparently, Nixxes was involved with getting Killzone: Shadowfall finished alongside the main development team, Guerrilla Games. Nixxes Software will provide the same role for the PlayStation Studio PC ports.

Nixxes Software's previous project: Marvel’s Avengers (2020)

The last registered Nixxes work was on a PC port with long-time partners Crystal Dynamics on Marvel’s Avengers. A few bugs were caught on PC at launch, but it seems that these were associated with the game as opposed to the port itself.

Nixxes Software's current project: Unknown

We know that Nixxes has been brought in to get PlayStation exclusives onto PC. We are hoping it is Dreams, but rumours suggest it will be a Uncharted PC Collection. The five Naughty Dog-developed titles were "leaked," but the image looks very dodgy. Indeed, this was proved false when the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection of two games for PS5 and PC were revealed without Nixxes attached.

Nixxes was purchased by Sony for an undisclosed fee, as announced unceremoniously by Hermen Hulst on Twitter. The team also clearly doesn't actually want to make its own game, after statements made by the studio head Jurjen Katsman. The confusion over whether Nixxes was a support team or a porting studio was clarified by Sony boss Jim Ryan. "We are also happy with our efforts to provide our IP to PCs, although it is still in its infancy, and we look forward to working with Nixxes to help with that." That was later proved as Nixxes' first task under the PlayStation Studios label was revealed to be making a huge update for Horizon Zero Dawn's PC port.

Where does Nixxes Software rank?

Nixxes Software simply isn't an awardable team just yet. The team seems talented at what it does do: PC porting. If it can offer the same services to PlayStation, then we will hand the Dutch team our little badge of honour.
