No Man's Sky new expansion announced, called Frontiers

Hello Games' No Man's Sky has come a long way in five years. To celebrate the fifth anniversary, the tiny studio has put together a trailer showing all of the major updates, from Foundation to Prisms, which then teases the release of a new expansion, called Frontiers.

Hello Games founder Sean Murry has penned an article on the PlayStation Blog about the five-year journey and teased the new Frontiers update. The enigmatic PR man writes:

"We knew this was the start of a journey, but never expected what a wild ride it would be. Today we’d like to take a moment to appreciate this milestone together. It hasn’t always been easy, but the thing that has been our guiding star throughout has been the players and the community. Behind every update, every video, every feature and line in a patch note is a team that cares so deeply for this game."

After a rocky start and return to glory that makes nearly everybody happy, the Next Generation update seems to have been the clean slate that Hello Games needed to move away from the turmoil of launch five years ago. Three updates have come since then, Companions, Expeditions, and Prisms. These add adoptable aliens, a fresh game mode and missions, as well as fresh visuals. The next update, called Frontiers, will be free and is coming soon.

"Our next update Frontiers is something I’m very excited about. In some ways, it is just another update, but in other ways, it’s a missing piece of the sci-fi fantasy that we’ve always wanted to add, and very fitting for our fifth anniversary," Murray writes. "There is still a lot we want to try, so much we are still excited for. The next step on that journey is not far off. We’ll have more to share on Frontiers with travellers very soon."

This must be very exciting for No Man's Sky players as well as protective space explorers. Have you been loyal to the cause? What do you think the Frontiers update will contain? Let us know in the comments!
