Oxenfree II: Lost Signals PS4 and PS5 announcement is electromagnetic

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
PlayStation is currently running an indie spotlight over on the PlayStation Blog. The first of seven games was revealed to be Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, coming to PS4 and PS5.

Oxenfree is back! The game was revealed earlier this year at a Nintendo Nindies conference, and now we know it is also coming to PlayStation. The sequel to 2016's ghostly time-and-space dimension shifter adventure looks to be of the same ilk, with the trailer (embedded above) showing a beautiful palette and eye for style that is subverted by the loss of signal on the screen.

Adam Hines, the lead writer and co-founder of developer Night School Studio, describes the lead character Riley as more mature than the high-school protagonists of the first game. Riley will be working for a research group trying to work out why all the electromagnetic signals have gone haywire around a small town. "Riley’s job, as a new, freshly hired research assistant — is to do the grunt work: plant radio transmitters in prescribed areas and report back the data those transmitters collect," Hines says. "In Oxenfree II, you’ll use much of the same tools as the original Oxenfree, a narrative game revolving around a robust conversation system and a radio that tunes into supernatural signals."

Still no release date, but we are glad to see it on PlayStation systems! Do you like the look of Oxenfree II? Let us know in the comments!
