New PS5 Digital Edition model that's lighter than the original spotted in Japan

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Some eagle-eyed industry insiders have spotted a PS5 Digital Edition hardware revision in some Sony manuals that does two things: drops the weight by 300 grams and revises the design for the base screw.

We sourced this from Push Square. PlayStation seems to have been busy rejigging the PS5 Digital Edition with a new model called CFI-1100B. With a slightly lighter weight (300 grams to be exact) and a better base screw, it won't look any different, but it might be easier to peg it through the shop with one when you finally see one on shelves.

Here is the documentation image:

The company are still trying to make a slightly smaller chip — a semi-customised 6nm — to go inside the console that might help it produce stock faster, though we are yet to see it in action.

What do you think? Will this ever come West? Let us know down below!
