PlayStation exclusive Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut gets new Iki Island story trailer

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Ahead of the release of Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut next month, PlayStation has dropped a new trailer focusing on the additional story content for Iki island.

This trailer is all about the story. We see how Jin will arrive at the island, and why. He is chasing down a new Mongol leader called 'The Eagle', but it seems some familiar faces are ready to pop up. We see Yuna — oh, Yuna — and Jin talk about how The Eagle is making the inhabitants trip out on some kind of soup. Indeed, we see a snippet of that new trippy ambience in a few short glimpses of gameplay.

Over on the PlayStation Blog it is made clear that there is plenty going on in Iki. "The stories you find on Tsushima are filled with action and adventure. The same is true for Iki Island. In the fight to save Iki, Jin will encounter pirates and smugglers, mad monks and haunted caves. There will be new legends to hear, and new techniques to learn. Jin will have to bring all his skills to bear to defeat this new enemy," senior writer Patrick Downs explains.

"We’ll also continue telling intimate, emotional, personal stories. Stories about real people struggling to let go of old hatreds and survive in a time of war. Stories about how it feels to be caught between preserving cherished beliefs and defending your home. What it means to be Lord Sakai… and what it means to be the Ghost."

Well, it all sounds like more of Ghost, and that is exactly what we here at TT want! You can read the full breakdown of what the Director's Cut includes here.

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
