Epic Games launcher combines trophies and achievements

Epic has shown an achievement system for their Epic Games Store in a developer roadmap image. The images show a very familiar combination of components to create their list of goodies.

On the Epic Games Store developer roadmap the addition of an achievement system has been around for a little while. We now have a better look at what such trinkets might look like, thanks to new concept images and a little help from Rocket League.

We can see a very familiar combination of elements. There is clearly a strong influence from Xbox's achievement system, from the name to the XP that will be awarded for each achievement earned, which is then used to level up your general account. From the PlayStation side, there are gold, silver, and bronze awards that get assigned to each achievement. The 'percentage of players unlocked' stat doesn't quite match the rarity barometer used on trophy lists, but there is a strong influence there. All in all, it seems like quite a brazen system that isn't afraid to hide its inspiration!

No confirmation of when this will go live just yet. What do you think? Is this copycat or not? Let us know in the comments!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
