Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown coming 2022

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Luxury open-world racer Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown got a new trailer and a September 2022 release date at yesterday's Nacon Connect event. The cinematic trailer gave us a look at the Hong Kong environment, off-road racing, some probably unrelated club scenes, and tight, neon-lit backstreets.

The latest game in the Test Drive series is heading to Hong Kong, which is being recreated on a 1:1 scale according to developer, KT Racing. The cinematic trailer shows off a few of these details, like the beaches, backstreets, highways, and more. It also features some slick transitions, like the Hong Kong skyline turning into poker chip towers, turning into an overturned set of cards, turning into a road. It is still a cinematic trailer, though, so we will keep our eyes open for gameplay.

In the extended presentation, embedded above, the developers make it sound like there will be a story mode featuring a clan rivalry between the Streets and the Sharps that revolves around a street racing tournament. This will all be contained by an MMO-like structure, with a clan system that looks to ensure your personal progress is tied to an overarching progression structure. We will have to wait and see how the game actually looks and plays over the next year for a better indication of what this all means in practice.

The game is set to launch on September 22nd next year for PS4 and PS5. Is this something you are interested in now? Or will you wait to see more? Keep us informed in the comments!
