Metro Exodus PS5 upgrade out tomorrow

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
On June 18th, an upgraded version of Metro Exodus is coming to PS5 and is jam-packed with features. For existing owners, the upgrade is free of charge, but if you want to buy the game, there will be a physical Metro Exodus: Complete Edition.

Metro Exodus

The Metro franchise is a Russian post-apocalyptic series based on a set of novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. It initially took place in the metro system below Moscow, where the survivors of nuclear fallout dwelt hoping to stave away the scary creatures living outside. Exodus is the third in the video game series and was initially released on PS4 in 2019.

The major features offered for next-gen are 60fps support, up to 4K resolution, an FOV slider, and ray traced lighting. On PS5 specifically, there is DualSense support and 3D Audio. On the PlayStation blog, the details of the haptics are more thoroughly explained by Jon Bloch, the executive producer at developer 4A Games.

"The advanced haptic feedback gives each weapon a unique feel upon discharge, recoil, reload, or jam. Players will even feel the subtle differences within the same weapon class as they adapt and customise on the fly using our in-the-field crafting and customisation mechanics; adding a heavier stock to increase stability, or a suppressor to reduce muzzle climb all change how the controller responds in the player’s hands.

"We found the perfect use for the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers to simulate the increased pressure or resistance when priming/charging these unique firearms. Maintaining high air pressure in the tank is essential to preserve the Tikhar’s lethality, and this has to be manually topped up by pumping the right trigger; as the pressure increases, so does the resistance on the trigger action so players can feel when maximum pressure has been attained."

Sounds good, so lets hope it feels good, too! Are you excited about jumping back into Metro Exodus? Or is this going to be the time you finally pick it up and play for the first time? Let us know in the comments tunnels below TT!
