Demon's Souls data found in PS4 database

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Bluepoint's Demon's Soul's, the exclusive PS5 launch game that was a remake of FromSoftware PS3 title of the same name, has been found in the PS4 database. This suggests that the game might have a chance of dropping on last-gen consoles.

This account uses scrapers to trawl through the Sony databases for game file sizes. The method can unearth games, patches, and release dates with considerable accuracy. However, as the tweet is quick to underline, just because the data is there, it doesn't mean that the game will be on PS4 for certain. It could simply be a developer test or scrapped data, so don't assume that this is sure-fire confirmation of a port.

PlayStation has been caught up recently in the cross-gen debate. Gran Turismo 7 and God of War: Ragnarok were both confirmed to be PS4 and PS5 games, alongside Horizon Forbidden West. The launch PS5 exclusive Godfall is also heading backwards to try and find a player base ahead of its first major content drop.

Where do you stand on this cross-gen debate? Are you happy to see games moving backwards? Or should Sony have two feet in the next generation? Definitely get in the comments!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
