Overwatch "soon" to get cross-play across consoles and PC

By Heidi Nicholas,
Overwatch will soon get cross-play, with the Overwatch team confirming the feature will arrive "soon," and adding that everyone who plays after it arrives and before the end of 2021 will get a Golden Loot Box to mark the occasion.

We don't yet have a release date, but we do have official confirmation that it will be "soon." Blizzard emphasises, however, that cross-progression won't be available when cross-play launches, adding, "We understand that this feature is important for some of you, and it's something that the Overwatch team is excited to work on in the future."

When cross-play launches, players will need to make a Battle.net account and then link it to their console. Blizzard also confirms that cross-play will be available for all game modes except Competitive games, as here, players will be split into a group of either console players or PC players.

We'll update you when Blizzard confirms an arrival date for cross-play.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
