Days Gone developer Bend Studio working on new IP

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
After making Days Gone, Bend Studio is now working on its new IP, as revealed in the huge Hermen Hulst interview on PlayStation Blog.

Days Gone Screens

Hermen Hulst specifically said on the matter: "Bend Studio is working on a very exciting new IP that they’re very, very passionate about. They’re building on the deep open-world systems that they developed with Days Gone. So I’m really happy for Bend Studio." It sounds like the game will take a while and be out during a period when we can expect PS5 exclusivity. We now also know it will be open-world and will expand on some of the existing features of Days Gone. Zombie hordes and motorbikes again, maybe?

Bend was one of the studios that had a project unaccounted for when PlayStation announced that its studios were working on 25 games PlayStation Studios. We now have a much better video of Bend's future direction. This announcement also comes after the news that the studio had to force itself out of an unannounced Uncharted project and had a co-op Days Gone sequel rejected. Good to see the studio back on its feet and relatively independent again, although there were certainly six months wasted in the process.

The interview was ginormous and told us about cross-gen games, multiplayer story-driven experiences, and a God of War 2 delay.

What do you want from Bend? More zombies? Or perhaps something from a genre that is less overwrought? Cram your little comment into the forum down below.

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
