PlayStation details new Evo Community Series Tournaments

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
PlayStation has detailed its first major fighting game event since Sony's purchase of Evo in March in a PlayStation Blog article. The community events will feature Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear: Strive , Granblue Fantasy: Versus, and more.
Dragon Ball FighterZ

Evo 2021 Online will run from August 6th-8th and 13th-15th. Free entry means plenty of competition in some of the biggest fighting games with some of the best pros. The tournament will feature Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat 11, and Guilty Gear: Strive which launches next week.

The first of the Community Series tournaments will be the FGC Arcade: Evo Edition that will run from June 10th-22nd in the North American and European regions. You can compete for a part of the massive $20,000 prize pool in Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Guilty Gear: Strive, Mortal Kombat 11, and Tekken 7. As a pro-am tournament, you can expect a few absolutely wild results.

The second community tourney is the Evo 2021 Online Warm-up that runs from June 26th until July 13th across the North American, European, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Asian regions. The games in which you can compete are the same as the bigger brother tournament. This is the one where the pros might slap around a few heavily-muscled and under-dressed opponents for fun. The prize pool is $19,000 and some special themes and avatars. We all know which one we would take.

PlayStation is also running the Evo 2021 Online Side Tournament on PS4 from July 8th until August 3rd in North America, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Asia, and Japan. The prize pool on offer is $35,000 across BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Soulcalibur VI, and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]. This is a combination of efforts between Evo and the FGC and will have some insane fighting game variety for you to enjoy.

If you are one of those rare people who are actually good at fighting games, then feel free to sign up to the competition of your choice at either the PlayStation community hub or the Evo.gg site.

So, are you any good at some of these? How good does Guilty Gear look? If only there was a prize pool for Starwhal, I might have had a shot. Let us know what you think in the comments!
