Two new DualSense controllers will release next month

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Sony has announced two new colours of the DualSense controller — Midnight Black and Cosmic Red — to join the initial white version. The pair, announced on PlayStation Blog, will launch in June on different dates: June 11th in the US and June 16th in the UK.

The two are only available for order on PlayStation Direct in the US. Midnight Black appears to be the cheaper of the two for an unknown reason, retailing in the US at $69.99. The Cosmic Red variety is retailing at $74.99.

In the blog post, there is an interview with two members of the design team: Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi. For any colour mixing enthusiasts out there, Aoyagi notes a particularly novel detail. The controllers "feature a subtle blue hue, that produces unique shades of red and black." Well, it certainly makes for a change from my white-flaked-with-yellow-hand-dirt DualSense that I have been using intensively since launch.

In another PlayStation Blog article, released simultaneously, some of the Housemarque developers have listed a few of the neat ways in which the recently released Returnal uses the awesome DualSense haptics. There isn't anything newsworthy, but it is a good supplementary read!

What colours would you like to see in the future? Any haptic feedback you have fallen in love with? How septic are your white controllers? Let us know, you grimy lot.
