Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gets over 15 minutes of gameplay footage

By Heidi Nicholas,
Sony's State of Play gave us over 15 minutes of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay footage, showcasing some of the worlds and weapons we'll see when Rift Apart launches in June.

Rift Apart definitely seems like it'll be one of the best-looking games we've seen for the PS5 so far. Creative director Marcus Smith says, "thanks to the new hardware, the worlds in Rift Apart are more beautiful than ever. Cities are full of life with traffic and civilians milling about everywhere." We see some of this liveliness in the video above, as Ratchet explores Nefarious City. Community director James Stevenson adds on the PlayStation Blog that "the power of the PS5 shines with amazing visuals from Nefarious City and Rivet’s home base on the alternate dimension Sargasso. The game was built for the next-generation and shows it," before going on to praise the loading times and the feedback from the DualSense controller.

The gameplay footage shows off a few of Rift Apart's weapons and introduced the impressive new NegaTron Collider — although the Topiary Sprinkler will be hard to beat — as well as new gameplay mechanics such as Phantom Dash and wall-running.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launches on June 11th for £69.99/$69.99. If you choose to splurge a little extra and go for the Digital Deluxe Edition for £79.99/$79.99, you'll get a few bonuses, including five armour sets.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
