Spiritfarer's free Lily Update is available now

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Lily Update is available in Spiritfarer now, adding in the Butterfly Spirit of Stella's younger sister, while developer Thunder Lotus celebrates 500,000 copies sold worldwide.

Thunder Lotus says Lily's "here to be your guiding light by granting you the ability to navigate at night, and by offering a sweet and personal window into several scenes of Stella‘s life," but that she'll only show up near the end of the game.

The response to Spiritfarer has been immensely positive, but one piece of player feedback was for a more fulfilling end to Stella's own story. "We decided to make the Lily Update a bit smaller than the others in order to properly take the time and address the most common feedback we received since the game’s release: Stella’s Story and Spiritfarer’s Ending," Thunder Lotus says. "We heard it loud and clear, and we agreed, so we really gave it our all to make Stella’s story and its conclusion more satisfying. We’re really happy with how it turned out, and we hope you’ll enjoy it too!"

The devs are also celebrating the news that Spiritfarer has now sold over 500,000 units worldwide. If you haven't tried it yet, it's a wonderful management sim in which you care for spirits and guide them to the afterlife. Spiritfarer was by far one of the best things to come out of 2020 — it's a hugely enjoyable game with crafting, farming, exploration, decoration, and more, but be prepared; it's hugs and popcorn one minute, and complete emotional devastation the next. You have been warned.

The Lily Update is available for free now, and two more updates are planned to arrive over the rest of the year. We'll update you when we hear more.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
