Curse of the Dead Gods' next update brings a Dead Cell crossover

By Heidi Nicholas,
Curse of the Dead Gods will have a Dead Cells crossover when the free Curse of the Dead Cells update arrives next week on April 14th, bringing with it new themed content and more.

Curse of the Dead Cells

Passtech Games created Curse of the Dead Cells in partnership with Motion Twin and Evil Empire. The update brings a new curse, three new weapons, and a new type of Challenge Room, all inspired by Dead Cells. The curse, the Curse of the Headless, lets you "move faster while receiving more damage, with a visual twist emblematic of Dead Cells’ main character." Meanwhile, each of the new weapons — the Sword of Conjunctivius, the Broadsword of the Knight, and the Crossbow of the Condemned — is "fashioned after its equivalent from Dead Cells." Lastly, the new type of Challenge Room will feature a Cursed Chest. On a recent PlayStation Blog post, Margaux Saly, associate producer and communication manager at Passtech Games, says the Cursed Chest will add a third way to get a cursed item: "to unlock the chest you have to kill a certain number of enemies in the room without getting hit. Fail, and the chest goes poof." If you manage to kill those enemies, the Chest will give you a choice between three items, "one of which is always cursed."

According to the devs, however, it's not just themed Dead Cells content coming with the update — "more features" are promised, although they're not giving away anything about these yet. Since the update arrives on April 14th, it's likely we'll get some more info soon, and we'll keep you posted.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
