Doom 3: VR Edition announced, coming this month

By Heidi Nicholas,
Sony has now announced the VR Edition of Doom 3. The game will launch on March 29th along with both expansions for the PS4, and will also be playable via backwards compatibility on the PS5.

The announcement came as part of Sony's PS VR Spotlight, which focuses on upcoming PS VR games. "Feel even closer to the terror with all-new VR enhancements that allow you to peer around corners, angling your shots with flashlight-mounted weapons using motion controls, 180-degree quick-turn functionality to catch demons sneaking up from behind and an immersive wrist-mounted display to track your health, armor and ammo."

Doom 3: VR Edition has you as one of the last survivors left fighting a "demonic invasion" on the Union Aerospace Corporation's Martian research facility. The game comes with the Resurrection of Evil expansion, which asks you to save earth from an army of demons by heading into Hell, and The Lost Mission expansion, which is set two years after Doom 3 and has humanity under threat of extinction from the Maledict. Both expansions have been "retooled for PS VR technology."

Doom 3: VR Edition is only weeks away, and arrives on March 29th.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
