Sony confirms new PS VR headset coming to PS5

By Sean Carey,
Sony has announced that a new PS VR headset is currently in the works for PlayStation 5. According to Sony, the new next-generation VR system will provide the "ultimate entertainment experience with dramatic leaps in performance and interactivity."

Hideaki Nishino, Sony's VP of platform planning and management, wrote on PlayStation Blog that with this new system, "players will feel an even greater sense of presence and become even more immersed in their game worlds." The new headset will offer improved resolution over its predecessor, a better field of view, tracking and input. A new VR controller is also in development, which will "incorporate some of the key features found in the DualSense wireless controller, along with a focus on great ergonomics." Last year, Sony patented a new VR controller that included finger tracking, similar to the Valve Index controller.

Nishino goes on to say that the new VR headset is still in development, and it won't be launching in 2021.

Aside from these brief details, not much else has is known about this new VR system. Are you excited for a next-generation PSVR headset? Let us know in the comments below.
