Microsoft is reportedly gearing up for a special Bethesda-themed event next month

By Sean Carey,
According to claims from prominent GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, Microsoft is gearing up to hold a special Bethesda-themed showcase next month once its $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax Media is finalised. For PlayStation fans, this could mean that we finally find out if Bethesda's future games will be exclusive to the Xbox platform.

Grubb said during a recent GamesBeat Decides podcast (via VGC) that he believes Microsoft will hold a Bethesda showcase in March, and also says the company "will talk about it extensively and explain what it means for everybody and kind of talk about the immediate future for both companies becoming one." Grubb notes that he doesn't expect it to be a "full, direct-style event" but says Microsoft will have something in the works.

Since the acquisition's announcement, everyone has been left wondering if Bethesda's games would become exclusive to the Xbox platform. Hopefully, if Grubb's claim is correct, we should learn the future of Bethesda and PlayStation at this March event.

Microsoft's ZeniMax acquisition is waiting for approval from EU antitrust regulators. The European Commission will either approve the deal on March 5th or elect to conduct a more thorough investigation into the agreement.
