Apex Legends' Fight Night Event kicks off today, bringing the Airdrop Escalation Takeover

By Heidi Nicholas,
The Fight Night Collection Event starts later today, January 5th, in Apex Legends, bringing more limited-time cosmetics, the Pathfinder Town Takeover, and the (temporary) Airdrop Escalation Takeover.

Along with a number of quality-of-life and bug fixes, the Fight Night Collection event update also brings the Airdrop Escalation Takeover as a temporary takeover of the "normal" game mode. The devs say it's still "classic Battle Royale," just with a lot more supply drops. When you start, there will be four scattered across the map, with each round bringing more. You will still be able to find normal weapons as "ground loot" but the supply drops themselves will differ according to which round you're in. Round One includes drops like "level two kitted weapons," as opposed to crate weapons, which you could expect in Round Four. The devs add that these supply drops will arrive at the same speed as Lifeline's Care Packages.

Also arriving today is the Pathfinder Town Takeover, which puts some new restrictions on the ring. Once you're inside, you won't be able to use weapons and abilities, and projectiles can't be thrown across the force field from outside the ring. There will also be some rare loot scattered about in the form of "loot balls." Lastly, the event brings 24 time-limited cosmetics, including the Self Reflection Loba skin and the Worlds Apart Lifeline skin. If you manage to get them all, you also unlock the Gibraltar Heirloom.

The Fright Night Collection Event goes live later today.

Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
