Cyberpunk 2077 reached 8 million preorders, as confirmed by CD Projekt Red

By Heidi Nicholas,
Cyberpunk 2077 has arrived, and CD Projekt Red has shared some interesting stats about the game's staggering 8 million preorders.

According to the CDPR investor relations Twitter account, 74% of those 8 million preorders were digital, while 26% of the preorders were allotted to physical distribution. Of the preorders in total, 41% were console preorders, while 59% were on PC. Cyberpunk 2077 may have only come out today, but CDPR is already looking ahead to the future. In a hidden message in the Cyberpunk 2077 launch trailer, the devs confirmed that the game's "free DLC program" kicks off early next year, and that the expansions will "take you even deeper into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, offering substantial, story-driven content that'll give you tough choices to make through impactful narratives that you won't soon forget," and that the team has "learned a lot from our work on both Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine."

The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account chimed in about the preorder news, saying, "we are truly humbled that so many of you trusted us and decided to support #Cyberpunk2077 before the release! Even 8 million thank yous isn't enough! The journey has just begun and we are hard at work on the upcoming fixes and updates to the game." Hey, I'm Heidi! I've just finished studying a Masters in English Literature, but I've been obsessed with gaming since long before then. I began on the PS2 with Spyro, before graduating to the Xbox 360 and disappearing into Skyrim. I'm now a loyal RPG fan, but I still like to explore other genres — when I'm not playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey, or being lured back into Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3!
